Return to Station (RTS)

Configure the RTS end-of-shift checklist, see how drivers complete it on the mobile app, and review everyone's submissions.

Return to Station (RTS) is the end-of-shift checklist your drivers complete when they get back to the station — scan procedures, package returns, mileage and fuel readings, VIN scan, and a vehicle photo inspection. It’s the return-trip counterpart to Load Out.

There are three parts to it:

  1. You configure the checklist questions — separately for each station.
  2. Drivers complete the checklist on the mobile app after their shift.
  3. You review everyone’s submissions in the dashboard.

This guide covers all three.

Configure the RTS checklist

RTS questions are set up per station — each station has its own checklist.

Where to configure it: click RTS in the top header menu — it’s one of the main tabs, right there in the header — then open the Configuration tab. Pick the station you’re configuring from the station selector. (You can also reach the same builder from Organization → Stations → (a station) → RTS tab.)

This opens the RTS Builder, where you configure the questions drivers must complete when returning from their route.

Introduction message

Optionally add an Introduction Message — a short note shown to the driver before they start the checklist (for example, a reminder of what to have ready). Click the pencil to edit it.

Sections

The checklist is organized into sections (named groups of questions). You can:

  • Add Section — create a new group and give it a title.
  • Rename, delete, or reorder sections (move up / down).

Each section card shows how many questions it contains.

Questions

Inside a section you add questions two ways:

  • Add Question — pick from the built-in catalog of ready-made questions (scan procedures, packages returning, mileage, fuel level, DVIC, vehicle inspection, and more), grouped by category.
  • Custom — write your own question.

For each question you can set:

  • Question text (what the driver is asked).
  • Answer Type (see the table below).
  • Helper Text — optional extra instructions shown to the driver.
  • Required — on by default; turn it off to let drivers skip it.

Answer types

Answer typeWhat the driver does
Yes / NoTaps a Yes or No button.
TextTypes a free-text answer.
NumericEnters a number. Numeric questions can auto-update the vehicle’s fuel % or mileage — tick “Updates fuel % on vehicle” / “Updates mileage on vehicle” when creating the question.
PhotoTakes a photo.
VIN ScanScans (or types) the vehicle’s VIN. It’s automatically checked against the driver’s assigned vehicle; a mismatch can block submission.
Vehicle InspectionCaptures a 6-angle photo inspection of the vehicle (front, back, both sides, and two corner angles).

When drivers can complete RTS

The timing is automatic — you don’t set it:

  • It opens as soon as the driver confirms their shift. There’s no earlier lock — once the shift is confirmed, RTS is available.
  • It closes 1 hour after the shift’s end time. After that the window is closed and the driver can no longer submit for that shift.

How drivers complete RTS (mobile app)

On the mobile app, drivers:

  1. Open the menu (left drawer) and tap Return to Station.
  2. If the shift isn’t confirmed yet, they’ll see Confirm your shift first — they tap Confirm Shift to unlock the checklist.
  3. The checklist runs as a one-question-at-a-time wizard. At the top they see which shift they’re closing out and their assigned vehicle, plus a progress bar. If you set an introduction or safety reminder, those appear first (they tap Get Started / acknowledge to continue).
  4. They answer each question — tapping Yes/No, typing text or a number, taking photos, scanning the VIN, or capturing the 6-angle inspection. Next stays disabled until each required question is answered; optional ones can be skipped.
  5. On the last step they tap Submit RTS. They see an “RTS complete” confirmation.

Review drivers’ RTS submissions

Where to look: click RTS in the top header menu, then the Report tab (also available from Organization → Reports → RTS Submissions). The page is titled RTS Submissions.

Filter by station (the station selector) and by date — use the day stepper to move between days. It shows one day at a time.

At the top, summary chips give you an at-a-glance read: Submissions (how many came in), Missing ADP punch, VIN issues, and With inspection photos.

The table lists one row per driver who submitted, with columns for:

  • Driver and Vehicle (with VIN, or a “No vehicle” flag)
  • Shift times and Completed time
  • ADP — whether they punched in (Yes / No)
  • VIN — match / mismatch / no VIN
  • Fuel % and Mileage
  • Other answers count, Photos (View), and Detail (Open)

Click Open on any row to see the full submission — every section’s answers, the photos, the vehicle and VIN, and a “Vs. shift start” lateness indicator (it flags drivers who finished well after their shift started).

Two related RTS tabs sit alongside the report:

  • Dashboard — a fleet-readiness overview (maintenance due, action items).
  • Vehicle Data — per-vehicle history: mileage, fuel logs, and inspection photos over time.
